Auditions for Ars Nova’s Opera Chamber
Chorus for the 2017-2018 season will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2017, at 2:00 pm at Ars Nova (AB Stephens building) on Drake Avenue.
The primary role of the Chamber Chorus is to serve as leaders for the opera choruses. As such, members of this elite ensemble will be expected to know their individual parts before chorus rehearsals begin and will be expected to attend all scheduled rehearsals that involve the opera chorus. Chamber Chorus members will be given TWO complementary tickets to all opera performances in which they perform. In addition to serving as leaders for the opera choruses, Chamber Chorus members will also be offered additional solo and ensemble opportunities in the Huntsville area throughout the year. These performance opportunities are intended not only to inform and educate the greater Huntsville community about Ars Nova’s productions and mission and to recruit future chorus members, but it is our hope that we eventually will be able to generate income from these performances to offer at least some monetary compensation to the dedicated members of the Chamber Chorus. Auditions are open to singers 21 and older who read music and/or can learn chorus parts on their own. While current Ars Nova students will receive precedence, we encourage all interested singers in the Huntsville community to audition. Please bring a classical music or Golden Age Broadway selection to sing as well as your personal calendar/planner.
